OUR WORK

Examples of past engagements focused on early technical decisions, system design, and operational software.
Details have been simplified or anonymized where appropriate.

Expond

Hospitality & wellness platform

Context
Expond provides on-demand wellness experiences for individual customers and 5-star hotels. The business had traction, but the existing software was unstable and increasingly difficult to extend as operations grew.

The real problem
The issue wasn’t missing features. It was an early data model and architecture that couldn’t support how the business actually operated and needed to grow — bookings, providers, hotels, and internal teams were all working around the system instead of with it.

The decision
Rather than continuing to patch the existing codebase, we made the call to rebuild. That meant redefining the core data model first, then rebuilding the system around real operational workflows.

Outcome
A stable, scalable platform supporting customers, providers, hotel staff, and internal operations — without locking the business into short-term tradeoffs or fragile workarounds.

Role
Fractional CTO leadership and senior engineering across architecture, product decisions, and implementation.

Codie Blocks

EdTech platform for early learners

Context
Codie Blocks needed to launch ahead of the school purchasing cycle. An existing build was unusable, and they were stuck with a looming launch deadline.

The real problem
Ensuring a successful initial product launch into the space.

The decision
Instead of adopting a generic LMS, we designed a minimal, custom curriculum delivery and licensing system that seamlessly integrated with their mobile game.

Outcome
A working MVP launched within the required window, supporting curriculum delivery, licensing, payments, and classroom use without introducing unnecessary complexity.

Role
Technical leadership and senior execution under deadline

VidSwap

Sports video analytics platform, acquired by Pixellot

Context
VidSwap was built to help coaches analyze and tag sports video efficiently. The system later scaled to support large-scale integrations and was acquired.

The real problem
Handling high-volume video, metadata, and analytics required custom systems, not off-the-shelf tooling.

The decision
We invested early in custom analytics pipelines, scalable video processing, and integration-ready architecture — prioritizing durability over speed.

Outcome
A platform capable of supporting large-scale video ingestion and analytics, eventually integrated with AI camera networks processing games at national scale.

Our role
Founder, Director of Engineering & Product; long-term technical and product leadership.
